#DubChat, Ireland’s first official ‘Twitter event’, is a new weekly Twitter chat that will take place at 9pm every Wednesday evening from May 30th. It is aimed not only at Dubliners but anybody who knows Dublin or likes to reminisce about the Irish capital and will begin at 9pm each week, lasting one hour.
Like the highly successful #TTOT (Travel Talk on Twitter) and #TNI (Travellers Night in) Twitter events, #DubChat will focus on a range of topics, with anything from Dublin restaurants, to the Luas and even politicians up for debate every week.
How will work:
Every week a different ‘host’ will tweet five questions on that topic, tagging the tweet with the #DubChat hashtag. Co-hosts will then retweet the questions to help spread the word. To join in, users can answer each question, tagging it with the same hashtag. As well as answer the questions, users are encouraged to engage with others getting involved in #DubChat by responding to their answers.
Who’s the brains behind #DubChat?
Having seen the popularity of travel-based Twitter events, Colm Hanratty,(@colmhanratty) dreamt up the idea of a Dublin specific event and will be the inaugural host. Colm is a Content and Social Media Manager for a Dublin based travel website. He’s enthusiastic about many things in life – Dublin and social media being just two of them.
What to Expect in Week One:
The first #DubChat will take place on Wednesday May 30th.
The topic of the first #DubChat will be ‘RESTAURANTS’.
The first question will be tweeted at 9pm. The remaining four questions will then be tweeted every ten minutes thereafter.
Speaking about the event, Colm said, “#DubChat will give Dublin tweeters and others around the country the chance to not only share their opinions on a whole bunch of topics, but also learn things about Dublin that they may not have already known. On top of that, by joining in #DubChat each week, the capital’s tweeters will be given a weekly opportunity to engage with other people that share the same interests.”
Anyone who wants to keep up to to date each week, should head over to Facebook ad like their page. Colm is also advising people to use programmes like ‘Hootsuite’ or ‘Tweetdeck’ to take part in the weekly chat, setting up search columns for the #DubChat hashtag.
